December 2014 WCT Surf Social Media Report

In December, Hookit tracked 54 surfers
and their social media reach. Together they created 21.7M fan interactions and
gathered 2.16M new followers.

The big story this month was Gabriel
Medina. The newly crowned World Champion racked up over 1.1M new followers
across all of his social media accounts yielding an audience growth of 87.6%.
Gabriel’s posts also generated an astonishing 5.9M interactions, not to mention
all top 10 photos posted to Instagram were owned by Gabriel.

Lakey Peterson led the females in fan
growth with a total increase of 25%.

December’s top surfing tweet came from
UFC’s Dana White mentioning Kelly Slater and was seen by over 2.9M users.
