Top Brands Across Sports – October 2021

A few weeks ago we launched the Brand Benchmark – the first of it’s kind view at all of the social exposure and value being generated in the world of sports.

With that launch, Hookit customers will now have access to a near real-time view of global market, category and brand level analysis to benchmark their own performance as well as monthly rankings.

In October, the global market hit $722M AAV – down 3.7% from September, continuing the downward trend from August and 21% off the 12 month high in May of $916M.

The top 3 brands claim 12% of Global Market share and while they haven’t moved much, we have seen more movement in the top 10 than normal.  Vivo moved up 10 spots from September when they were up 158 spots over August.  This trend is thanks to their partnership with Indian Premier League Cricket.  Mastercard and Gazprom also saw big jumps in October, moving 5 and 6 spots respectively, ranking 7th and 8th globally – both thanks to their Champions League partnerships.

Brands on the Rise

Sonos, GoGo squeeZ and Calm all jumped more than 4K spots up the rankings in October thanks to new partnerships. 

• Sonos partnered with Liverpool on their Every Angle campaign driving over 5M total views on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook 
• GoGo squeeZ partnered with Women’s US Soccer and Alex Morgan on their #FunComesFirst campaign to inspire kids to get active with big posts on TikTok and Instagram
• Calm drove big awareness of their “Greatness lies on the other side of sleep” campaign with LeBron James on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter

October top movers

The Liverpool partnership propelled Sonos into the top 3 of top movers for the year as well – up 508 spots from the same time last year.   Sitting 1st and 2nd in top movers for the year are TeamViewer (thanks to Manchester United and Mercedes F1) and Crowdstrike (thanks primarily to their Mercedes F1 partnership)
