Top Professional Golfers With The Highest Social Interactions Among Fans

March sees the world of golf’s attention switch to some of the largest tournaments of the year to date (Players Championship, World Matchplay, and Arnold Palmer Invitational) with each event attracting some of the best fields of the year outside of the majors. Thanks to a win at the Players Championship, Rory McIlroy saw his ranking climb three places to third and the top 2 spots were held by two of the games biggest characters, Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler, 1 and 2 respectively, the 2.8 million people who follow Ian Poulter are just as likely to see a post of a sports car as they are golf shots.

Ian Poulter who is affectionately known as the postman because he always delivers under the largest pressure moments such as the Ryder Cup leads the way with nearly 300K engagements for the month of March despite not winning a tournament since 2012.

Rory McIlroy jumped up three spots to third place in the rankings after a month where he won and seemingly had a chance to win every time he stepped on the golf course. Because of his performance during the Players Championship, McIlroy’s social media followers increased by 9.1K to reach a total of 4.4M across his social channels. His 205.4K total interactions were accumulated from his 64 total posts in March.

A busy April to come

April 11th – 14th sees the start of golf’s major season with Augusta, GA becoming the focal point of the golfing world for the year’s first major, The Masters hosted by Augusta National.
