Top MLS Players With the Highest Social Interactions Among Fans

With summer in full swing, the Hookit Most Engaged Top Ten chart has been totally shuffled up! Wayne Rooney is still in the number one spot with 3.0M interactions, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic has moved up from number three to number two with 400.3K interactions, a significant uptick from last month’s 117.6K. Zlatan may come off as brash and a bit standoffish, but clearly, his fans love him. Here are the rankings.

Chris Mavinga up into the Top Ten

Mavinga rose up five ranks from number fifteen in May, landing him in the top ten for the month of June. He got married last month as well and posted often about his new family. His twitter has a couple of pictures of his wife, himself, and his baby girl all dressed up for the photos.

From Numbers 7 and 8 to Top 3 and 4, Raul Ruidiaz and Josef Martinez

Separated by only 50k interactions, Ruidiaz and Josef Martinez are both excellent at social media as well as on the pitch. With Ruidiaz in third place for the month of June and Josef Martinez in fourth, Martinez has been here before. Two months ago in April, he was in fourth place again but has been bouncing back and forth. Ruidiaz, on the other hand, has been on a pretty consistent rise in interactions since February.

Bastian Schweinsteiger Having a Rough Few Months

The young soccer player, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has been losing followers for more than a few months, about 20k a pop. Since his follower count has been dipping down, he’s struggling to stay stable in the top ten. All the same, however, he’s managed to stay in the top 10 this month even with another drop in followers. We assume that his leave from international football two years ago is starting to affect his numbers.

The Wrap Up

Halfway through the season, there’s still a lot that can change in the Major League Soccer social interactions chart. Undoubtedly, however, Wayne Rooney is a fan favorite and is likely to stay the top choice for quite some time. Certainly, for the month of June, he was! Even so, things can change with time. Who knows what will happen in July’s Top Ten MLS Players?
